The installed Biden administration’s immigration policies have turned America into an “international hub for child trafficking,” according to experts, politicians, and witnesses. Hundreds of thousands of migrant children have entered the U.S. illegally in the past two years. Most of these children, some as young as toddlers, have been sold into forced prostitution, manual labor, or criminal gangs.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, over 300,000 unaccompanied alien children have arrived at the southern border since January 2021. Tara Lee Rodas, an HHS whistleblower, testified that the federal government has become “the middleman in a large scale, multi-billion-dollar child trafficking operation.” She claimed the government is delivering children into “modern-day slavery” with “wicked overlords.”
Experts say criminals are profiting from the mass influx of child migrants. Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies stated, “The Biden administration has implemented policies that incentivize the illegal entry of unaccompanied alien children on a massive scale, to the profit of criminal smugglers and traffickers.” She noted that while supporters claim the policies help reunify families, “there is no possible rationalization” for facilitating “the abuse and exploitation of child migrants on such a large scale.”
Rachel Campos-Duffy of Fox News reported that under Biden, “most [migrant children] are sold for sex, used for cheap labor, or forced to join gangs.” She called the trafficking and abuse of migrant children “America’s darkest secret.”
Sheena Rodriguez, president of the Alliance for a Safe Texas, testified about abuse at federally-run facilities for migrant children in Texas. “In April 2021, when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott learned of allegations of abuse of unaccompanied minors in a federal facility in San Antonio, he said, ‘The Biden administration is presiding over the abuse of children.’” She requested a congressional investigation into the agencies responsible for these facilities.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Josh Hawley have also criticized the Biden administration, with DeSantis calling the situation “effectively the largest human smuggling operation in American history” and Hawley referring to it as “the biggest child smuggling ring and the biggest child labor ring in American history.” Hawley demanded an FBI investigation into the Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services over their role.
To solve this “incalculable harm,” according to Vaughan, Congress must change immigration laws and stop executive policies that encourage mass illegal migration. State and local governments also need more authority to fight human trafficking and illegal employment. The crisis shows no signs of abating as long as the Biden administration’s open border policies remain in place. Action is urgently needed to curb the abuse and prevent the lives of more children from being destroyed.
